Students interested in the Goodwill Excel Center should complete the online application. - Attend a Document Session
If/when you are selected for a conditional seat to the Goodwill Excel Center, you will need to attend a “document session.” Every student will need to bring the following documents to the document session:- Proof of DC Residency
- Official/Sealed Transcript From ALL Attended High Schools
If you have been offered a conditional seat and you do not have a transcript, or have never attended high school please plan to complete a “transcript waiver form,” indicating that you do not have any credits. - Proof of Initial Immunization for Multi-dose Immunizations, and a Schedule of Completion of Immunizations
- Complete a Math & Literacy Placement Assessment
When all of the required documents are submitted students will be invited to complete a math and literacy assessment, and to meet with an academic success coach. - Attend an iExcel Student Orientation
Students who have completed the above steps will be enrolled into a two-day iExcel student orientation. Completion of the two day student orientation guarantees a seat on August 22, 2016 for the first day of classes.

The math and literacy placement assessments are used to determine where in the program you should start your education. There is no “pass,” or “fail,” no matter where you score you will be enrolled into the Goodwill Excel Center.
We recognize that our students may come to us with life”s challenges. As part of the enrollment and admissions process, students will have an Excel Academic Success Coach who will support our students and identify thier needs to successfully complete their education.
The Goodwill Excel Center is open to students from 9 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday. Classes are Monday through Thursday.
The time it takes to complete the program varies from student to student.
- The standard education track is made up of 5 eight week terms.
- Each term is 8 weeks long.
The amount of time depends on the number of high school credits a student has upon enrollment, and how they do on the math and literacy placement assessment.
(For example, a students with some credits may finish sooner than a student with no credits.)

Each class can range from 90 minutes to 3 hours a day.
Yes, The Goodwill Excel Center offers classes from 9 am until 4 pm with part-time options.
We encourage students to attend full-time so they can graduate sooner, but part-time options are available.
At this time, The Goodwill Excel Center will offer the majority of classes during the day. As the need of students are evaluated, evening classes will be scheduled.
The Goodwill Excel Center is a high school which means that anyone who has successfully completed middle school (8th grade) can enroll and attend.
Yes. The Goodwill Excel Center is only open to District residents, and students are required to submit proof of District residency.
Yes, those with a GED are welcome to enroll at The Goodwill Excel Center to pursue a high school diploma.
An on-site child development center for enrolled Goodwill Excel Center students is only available while the student is physically in class. Childcare is not available for enrolled students who are not attending class, or students on the enrollment waiting list.

Currently The Goodwill Excel Center offers credentials in Hospitality Services and Unarmed Security and Protective Services.

Yes, there will be a full-time security on location during instructional hours, and on Fridays when students are not required to be in the building.
